How can the words we speak in worship be accessible, lively, and evocative? This course will study the way language is used in worship, provide tools for analyzing and critiquing liturgical resources that have been published in recent years, and offer a vision for how to write and speak liturgy for today’s church. In addition to exploring how language works and considering the work of contemporary authors who write about liturgical language, students will create new liturgical texts and engage in collaborative methods of writing and editing.
