Columbia Theological Seminary is pleased to announce the creation of the Madeline and Howell Adams Faculty Innovation Fund, made possible by a generous $1.5 million gift from Howell Adams, a lifelong Presbyterian, successful businessman, and former CTS trustee (1987–2007).
The gift, made through the charitable trust of Howell and his late wife, Madeline, reflects their enduring commitment to equipping bold and courageous leaders for the Church and the world.
“Howell Adams has always embodied the power of faith and the wisdom of generous leadership. Together, Howell and Madeline’s shared vision and generosity continue to shape the future of theological education, ensuring that faculty and students are equipped to lead with faith and courage for generations to come,” said Rev. Dr. Rebekah LeMon, senior pastor of Trinity Presbyterian Church, Atlanta.
Supporting faculty initiatives that advance scholarship and teaching, the Adams Faculty Innovation Fund will resource innovative research and scholarly projects, provide support for sabbatical work that enriches vocation and academic contribution, and encourage creative approaches to teaching and learning.
“Faculty are the heart of Columbia’s mission and future,” said President Victor Aloyo. “When we invest in their creativity and vision, we strengthen the Church, renew communities, and reimagine theological education for generations to come. The Adams family’s generosity makes this bold work possible, and we are profoundly grateful.”
